    Master of Science (M.Sc)

Biotechnology is a rapidly expanding area which involves the application of molecular biology, microbiology, genetics and biochemistry to generate products for human use.

    Programme Objective

Biotechnology is an interdisciplinary subject which gives in- depth knowledge of molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, cell biology and computers. It strengthens the students to uncover the mysteries of life as well as nature and to apply it for the benefit of mankind. It has great potential to unveil the breath taking developments in the field of genomics. Post-Graduation in Biotechnology is one of the important avenues open to students who have graduated in any of the above courses. A graduation in any of these will facilitate career opportunities in Diagnostic Laboratories, Fermentation Industries, Food processing Industries, R & D wings of Pharmaceutical Industries, Agri biotech Industries and a multitude of other areas where expertise in life sciences is essential.

    Eligibility

B.Sc Degree with minimum 50% marks in aggregate (45% marks in case of SC/ST candidate) of all the three optional.
The candidate should have studied Chemistry or Biochemistry compulsorily as an optional subject along with at least on of the following optional subjects :
    (a) Microbiology
    (b) Biotechnology
    (c) Botany
    (d) Applied Botany
    (e) Zoology
